BONSIGNORE ARCHITECTS

History of The Firm

On November 18, 2015
by richard

Bonsignore Architects, PC. continues a tradition of distinction that commenced with its pedigree firm of Bonsignore, Brignati & Mazzotta (BBM) back in the mid 1960’s. For over fifty years, passion is what has kept the NYC based firm name alive in the architectural world and real estate community. The desire to serve one’s clients well while maintaining the ability to lead with uncompromised integrity.

Over years of service, the Bonsignore name has been synonymous with excellence in the practice of interior architecture and continues with a second generation as Bonsignore Architects, PC. Much of the training and resources gained from BBM has been assimilated into our present practice. As a boutique firm, we offer the experience and depth in resources found in a large office without the confusion and careless overlapping of disciplines that can occur when orchestrating a team from a large office. Our personal attention and service has endured the test of time while adapting to the changes impacting our industry. Principal involvement throughout a project is provided to guaranty our clients the accountability they need.

Since the inception of our firms, the principals have worked together to build a reputation of high caliber. The construction documents we develop have been recognized as among the finest in the profession. Our skills in project management, adhering to budgets and schedules control costs for our clients and accelerate the project’s process.

The combined experience of Bonsignore Architects, PC. qualifies us to fulfill client’s needs confidently and completely. Our knowledge in resources and depth of first-hand involvement give projects guaranteed quality.

Methodology

While we approach a project conventionally, our methodology is progressive by today’s standards. From the commencement of a project, Richard Bonsignore, FARA is designated as the project manager and committed to an intimate involvement in the project’s development and conclusion.

Since much is lost when programming is performed by individuals other than those who will execute the actual design, we make certain that the people involved in gathering client’s requirements assimilate those requirements into a pragmatic design. With our client’s objective as our goal we proceed through the entire project within established cost and time parameters. Influenced by these parameters, we seek to provide clients’ with the best value for the dollars spent, not only for the initial project but also for the long term life cycle of the project.

Our knowledge regarding cost, time and performance factors of materials, systems and construction sequences is one of our major strengths. From preliminary design through design development, these factors are continually evaluated in terms of quality, function and aesthetics.

Above all, Bonsignore Architects, PC. considers the image our design will project for clients with the selection of materials, colors and textures as permitted by budget. The end result is an innovative, functional and cost-effective environment.

Richard C. Bonsignore, FARA, Founder and President of Bonsignore Architects, PC, has completed a variety of projects for corporate and financial institutions, property owners and managers and developers.  He actively participates in all phases of a project from conception to completion including budget control and project management.  His creative solutions to problems are exceeded only by his attention to detail and organization.

Prior to founding Bonsignore Architects, PC, he worked at the offices of Bonsignore, Brignati & Mazzotta, P.C. Architects and Haines, Lundberg and Waehler (HLW International).

Rich earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).  During his summer recesses he worked as a laborer for a large general contracting firm in New York City on a variety of commercial projects.  After graduating from RISD, he attended evening classes at the Manhattan campus of New York Institute of Technology where he pursued an MBA degree.

He is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board and is registered in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  He is a past President of the Society of American Registered Architects, New York Chapter.  He also acted as the professional liaison of Building Owners & Managers Association’s Board of Directors, the architectural advisor for their Codes and Regulations Committee and participated in their Membership Committee as well as their advocacy campaigns to Albany and Washington D.C.  Additionally, he sat on the Board of Adjustments in his local municipality and currently acts as Chairman of his local Planning Board.

Design Philosophy

On April 17, 2014
by richard

Bonsignore Architects, PC’s design solutions are predicated upon our clients’ needs and desires, thus producing as many characteristic differences between projects as exist between clients. However, as much as designs may differ, the philosophy behind each remains focused on the objective to maintain a balance between:

The project’s operational efficiency              FUNCTION

The project’s aesthetic completion               FORM

The project’s cost and time budgets            BOTTOM LINE

While changing times dictate adjusting our methodology, our approach to maintain a balance between these three considerations remains constant. We combine managerial and design skills to moderate a project’s progression. The end result is always the best possible value in form and function for clients’ affordable cost and time.

The importance of considering monetary budgets and time constraints is exceeded only by the control of these parameters. In dealing with the sensitive and simultaneous activities of a project, we have become versed in identifying the tasks for each team member and monitoring the implementation of those tasks during the design and construction process. It is here that we call more upon our skills as effective managers than upon our skills as designers.

Value engineering, flexibility and rapid change without major cost escalation are always in the forefront of our thinking. When decisions are made through a process of balanced evaluations, the resulting project is one which has been truly value-engineered. We have developed a series of computer generated forms and reports to assist us in tracking the hard and soft costs of a project as well as the related schedules.

With more than five decades designing millions of square feet of space for hundreds of clients, Bonsignore Architects, PC. knows the intrinsic value of absolute control, which is the architect’s traditional function and indeed professional responsibility. Despite continued trends to fractionalize this role of chief project coordinator, we have managed to maintain our integrity by exhibiting our experience in synthesizing quality and management.
